Skin Disorders

Your skin is composed of three primary layers, the epidermis, the dermis, and the hypodermis. Skin disorders are related to epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin that provides waterproofing and serves as a barrier to infection.  They cover a wide range of conditions, some benign, some very serious, and some even a sign of another underlying illness. Consequently, doctors often must consider many possible diseases when evaluating skin problems. Skin disorders can be due to bacterial, viral, or fungal infections and can cause an increase in susceptibility to various diseases which can settle in your skin.

Maxim Healthcare Services recognizes that a skin disorder not only affects your physical health, but also your emotional well-being. Whether you or a loved one was born with a skin condition or were diagnosed with one later in life, our compassionate caregivers ensure their patients feel comfortable and remain independent in the home.

Maxim understands the challenges of skin disorders and has the ability to help you or your loved one with activities of daily living and in-home nursing needs to offer the highest level of comfort and independence. Every day, people of all ages face the challenges of living with a skin disorder. Some people may be more susceptible to these conditions than others. For example, people with diabetes are likely to have poor blood flow, especially to the hands and feet, and the high levels of sugar in their blood decrease the ability of white blood cells to fight infections. People with HIV/ AIDS or other immune disorders and those undergoing chemotherapy are at higher risk as well, because they have a weakened immune system.

Our highly skilled staff will provide immediate and effective nursing care that is designed to meet the patient’s specific needs and address the physical and emotional limitations experienced by individuals who are living with a skin condition.
